He convinced people who didn’t want to appear on camera, to go on camera. Always, in the end and after seeing the product, to their surprising delight. He made things happen – beautifully – when we didn’t think things would happen at all.
Freddie’s great at crisis management. Which is not to take anything away from his artful sense of production when things are calm. Freddie is a major leaguer. Pure and simple. And heck of a nice guy to boot. My only regret is that I’m not working with him right now.

Lucky for me, I know Freddie Dorn. From the time I met him more than 21 years ago - as my first producer at Good Morning America – I knew Freddie had this unique gift to be able to take a jumbled narrative or a discombobulated story (which is to say sometimes my work) and make it come alive with sights and sounds, turning it into a beautiful, blow-your-senses package that leaves an audience truly moved.
Oh he works hard and all that. But that creative spark, that ability to turn an idea into an incredible and powerful video product? For Freddie it just comes naturally. He makes it happen, and he makes it sing. Lucky for me.
