Freddie was my first – and at the risk of angering so many other very good producers – my best producer at Good Morning America. Freddie is so talented, so artful, so editorially insightful. But he was at his best when things fell apart, as they are usually wont to do in the field.

He convinced people who didn’t want to appear on camera, to go on camera. Always, in the end and after seeing the product, to their surprising delight. He made things happen – beautifully – when we didn’t think things would happen at all.

Freddie’s great at crisis management. Which is not to take anything away from his artful sense of production when things are calm. Freddie is a major leaguer. Pure and simple. And heck of a nice guy to boot. My only regret is that I’m not working with him right now.
